Question: Anybody know of any good comedy writing resources? Comedy theory texts? Or any other resources that may provide some concrete ideas for dialing up the hilarity in a piece of writing?

A few playwrights I know have recommended “The Comic Toolbox: How To Be Funny Even If You’re Not” by John Vorhaus. It’s examples are all sit-com based, but the principles still work well for theater, I’m told. It’s all about making lists and killing your internal editor.
Hmm,
I liked this – http://writerjoshuajames.com/dailydojo/?p=262
Also here’s Rogers’s index, http://kfmonkey.blogspot.com/2007/01/january-index-fu.html
In particular I’d mention LEARN TO SAY AIN’T (under the REST) and the stand up stuff . . .
Awesome. Thanks a lot guys! This is really helpful.
